Statement: My young friends!
There are many reasons why football is both an interesting and a very challenging sport. Enthusiasm and dedication, a fighting spirit, teamwork and an excellent shape constitute the crucial elements for winning or at least doing well in a fair competition.
As a highly motivated amateur football player I have personally experienced numerous successes and defeats, and today I am still glad about this experience and all I have learned through this sport. Even in my professional life as a politician, my past experience in this discipline continues to serve me well.
Over the last 22 years, the Upper Austria Cup has been promoting young football teams very successfully and has earned an excellent reputation worldwide. International understanding has pride of place in this tournament in the Upper Austrian city of Wels, and thus, I am very pleased that again this year, the organisers are preparing for many teams coming from all over the world to participate in this event.
My best wishes for success go out to all of you who have put a lot of work and good cheer into organising this event and to those who will participate too!
