Statement: A Child's Laughter is Priceless
Unicef wants the rights of children to be observed and put into practice the world over. All children have a right to grow up without misery or fear. Every child has the right to health, education, food, and protection from violence as well as from discrimination and exploitation. As a result Unicef helps people in 161 countries in the world so that they can look after themselves and their children.
For over 50 years now Unicef helps everywhere where children suffer. The money the Unicef needs for this comes from people the world over.
Who donate or buy Unicef Greeting cards without the help of these people Unicef cannot help. Especially important is the help we receive from the children and the young people themselves. Today more children and young people live world wide than have done so at any this before. Then have to be involved in the decision making process that concerns them as soon as possible. Due to that it is important to inform.
As president of Unicef, I greet and support the U.A.C because big international sporting evens like this one offer a lot of children and youths the opportunity to learn.
The sporting competition at this international youth meeting is not the only important aspect, but also the meeting of different cultures. Fair play, sport against drugs, youth against racism are not just empty worlds. This is practiced at the U.A.C
In Wels international friendships and experiences are made that are kept in positive life long memory. The first step towards a better understanding for each other as well as helping one another is made.
